Meeting Dresden 19.-22.03.2014
During the project from the 19.03. – 22.03.2014 in Dresden manifold ventures have been realized with the international guests. After the arriving of all the participants on Thursday, Friday started with a guided tour in the municipal museum, which should intensify the understanding for the extraordinary history of Dresden and explain its role during the war.
Meanwhile a steering-group with at least one participant from each country was working on the development of the ideas and concepts for the final presentation of the project in Brussels in June 2014.
After a very tasty lunch in the ‘Dresden 1900’ at the ‘Altmarkt’ the participants went to the ‘Frauenkirche’. Of course this visit was one of the highlights, because the church was already known for some of the people for example from pictures of the destruction of Dresden. The more impressive was the rebuilt church for them.
After an english guided tour of volunteers from the ‘Frauenkirche’, we have been attended in the ‘Kulturrathaus’ in the Dresdner Neustadt. First we have been welcomed by Manfred Wiemer, and then the project-group presented the content of the previous meetings in Cesis, Voionmaan, Olesnica and Grenoble to the seniors and all of the other participants, as well as the present goals and video presentations of contemporary witnesses.
Because the day was very exciting and full of new information, finally a dinner took place in the restaurant ‘Steiger’ near the City Herberge.
On Saturday we first visited the military historical museum. The guided tours in four different languages (Polish, Czech, English, French) gave us an understanding of the history of Dresden during the period of war.
Our guests, as well as ourselves were pretty impressed by the content of the museum and its remarkable architecture.
After a two hour lasting tour we get our refreshment and also the opportunity to discuss a bit about what we've seen, in restaurant 'Hubertusgarten'.
Starting 15 o' clock the eagerly-anticipated workshops in the highschool of Dresden Bühlau took part, for example pottery making, drawing, singing together german folk songs and a photo-workshop (where the history was explained ,with the help of private pictures from the seniors, to the pupils of the high school).
We have been very amused to see the vigor and the euphoria of our guests being creative!
To conclude the project 2 WARdS Europe a cultural evening in 'Stilbruch' took place, filled with a lot of fun, live music and good mood, which was a very amazing end of the shared time.
